Why is there an additional fee for my order at checkout?
Dear Customers,
You may have noticed an additional fee at checkout, and we want to take a moment to explain why this charge has been added to your order. As part of international trade regulations, we are required to account for import tariffs and processing fees when shipping products from China to both the United States and Canada. These fees are set by the respective governments, and unfortunately, we cannot absorb these additional costs.
For U.S. Customers
If you are ordering from the U.S., there are two main charges that apply:
-
10% Tariff: The U.S. government imposes a 10% tariff on products that are imported from China. This tariff is calculated based on the total value of the product(s) you order, and it is required for us to collect and pass through to the relevant authorities.
-
$2.60 MPF Processing Fee: The U.S. government also charges a Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) for every package imported into the country. This fee is a fixed charge of $2.60 per package, and it covers the costs of processing and clearing your order through customs.
Both of these charges are passed on directly to our U.S. customers to comply with the legal requirements and ensure your order is delivered smoothly.
For Canadian Customers
If you are ordering from Canada, the regulations are slightly different:
-
18% Tariff: Canadian authorities impose an 18% tariff on certain products imported from other countries, including China. This tariff is also calculated based on the value of the product(s) in your order.
-
5% Import Tax: In addition to the tariff, Canadian customers are required to pay a 5% import tax on the total value of the goods. This is part of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) applied to all goods entering Canada.
As with U.S. orders, these additional fees are necessary to meet the legal and regulatory requirements set by the Canadian government, and we must pass them along to ensure your order is processed and shipped in compliance with customs regulations.
Why Are These Fees Applied?
These fees are not set by us—they are required by government authorities in both the U.S. and Canada. We simply collect and remit them on your behalf to ensure that your order clears customs and is delivered without delay. While we wish we could avoid these charges, they are beyond our control, and we want to be transparent with you about how they work.
